All about the destination
Rally to Neyland Stadium
Neyland Stadium is a sports stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee. It serves primarily as the home of the Tennessee Volunteers football team, but is also used to host large conventions and has been a site for several NFL exhibition games with the last between the Washington Redskins and Houston Oilers during the Oilers transition to Nashville in 1998. After 79 years and 16 expansion projects, Neyland Stadium peaked at an official maximum capacity of 104,079 seats. Attending a game at Neyland is entertaining for many reasons. The atmosphere is loud and explosive, with a sea of orange filling the seats. Opponents’ fans are easy to locate because they are in groups and their colors usually stand out in sharp contrast to the Volunteer orange. The tailgate parties and the after- game festivities are enjoyable, too, and they seem to go on forever. A football game here is an all- day event. Because of the extensive amount of partying, fans are usually able to forgive the fact that beer cannot be sold in the stadium. Also, the wide abundance of food and drink before the game has the advantage of lowering the overall cost to attend. Most people who walk into the stadium are already very full and in no need of any additional food or drink. This can help save money on concessions.
